On Sunday we held our club championships. It was a fantastic day for all the kids involved. I really like Carlos concept were our club championships not only test the students on their patterns and fighting abilities but also include fun fitness and skill activities.
It gives an opportunity for those students who are not ready to compete in competition sparring or poomsae to have some fun with their fellow students and be rewarded for their efforts with trophies, which inevitably builds their self confidence.
As Carlo stated, this is were it all starts. Developing students at an early age and making the training environment fun and exciting.
On the day I was presented with a Club plaque for my recent success and who would have thought, asked to sign autographs and have photos taken.
This is an extremely unfamiliar position for me to be in and a little unexpected. It's not something I planned or intended but the personal rewards thus far have been amazing.
At the very least I do hope to encourage all people to follow their dreams and not to be deterred by the obstacles we face along the journey.
Hard work does pay off!
Hope to see you all training hard soon,
Steve.
