Nationals is almost here

It's a little over two weeks until our National competition and by the sounds of it, we are going to be in for a little treat.
There are over 1000 entries with some international fighters attending from our neighboring countries.
I'm looking forward to the Australian Defence Force demonstration of their self defence and conditioning techniques . I think it will be very interesting to see how they train as for them the stakes are so much higher. You loose your fight and you may loose your life!
As a young child I was very interested in perhaps taking up a career in the defence forces. I was involved in Army Cadets for a number of years, which teaches you basic survival skills, camping, orienteering, discipline and most enjoyably shooting and running through mud! What can be more exciting for a young boy then getting dirty.
After finishing school, twice I nearly joined the Air Force and the Army.

I'm personally dealing with trying to remain positive with the competition so close. Last week I eased back into training which was going fine until my opponent misplaced a cut kick leaving me with a massive cork (it really is critical when fight training that these accidents don't happen so close to competition, yet there is nothing I can do about it now). Still limping today my physio tells me its a two week injury.
The ramifications of this are massive as now I cant do the necessary rehab on my hamstring and if Im lucky I might get a few training sessions in before the competition.
It really feels like I'm on struggle street and not meant to compete at this tournament. This is also leaving me stressed and upset as I'm concerned that without the adequate preparations I will get smashed by my opponent.
I guess other people are just happy to see me out there trying my hardest fighting with one arm, but for me I have such high expectations of myself that I don't want to be second. I really want to be at my fittest, give nothing but my best and hope to shock everyone and beat some of my opponents.
I think this attitude can help me to succeed in my goals though the flip side of it is that I place myself under enormous pressure when doing this.
I guess it all comes down to balance and getting it right.
We will see the outcome soon....
