Life as a Martial Artist

Saturday I had a physio appointment again. It was 10 days after the initial cork to my left quadriceps and Adam wanted to start rubbing it out.
We didn't get very far as I screamed in pain, so he told me to get an ultrasound.
I wasted no time and was booked in on Monday at 9am sharp. The radiologist mentioned on my way out that the report would be complete by this afternoon so I took a gamble and booked in late that night to see Adam.
He tells me that he is glad we got the scan done because it shows exactly whats occurring within the muscles. Its not good news.
I have a 13cm tear within the internal quad (known as Vastus intermedius) explaining why I am still limping and feeling plenty of pain.
He tells me its another 6 week injury as the tear is also a grade 2. Im pretty dumbfounded as he cant believe someone can have both a hamstring injury and torn quad at the same time.
By this stage Im no longer angry or upset so I explain to him its the life of a Martial Artist, you just accept that this is part of it. There is little point in dwelling on the past!
So this year I will be a spectator at Nationals and am looking at the bright side of things. All the pressure to succeed is gone, I'm not stressed about how Im going to perform and I will be able to really enjoy the competition as I wont be totally focused on myself competing.
And that's life as a Martial Artist.
