The Prognosis

At 2.30am I finally get in to see a doctor.
Funnily enough they wont scan it so I've inevitably spent 6 hours here to just get some pain killers. Thankfully to as my hamstring has been burning the entire time. It feels like some has whacked me hard with a stick across the back of my leg.
Waking the next morning I have a sense of urgency that if get the proper treatment early I am still a chance of competing at the nationals in Canberra.
Recovery / rehab started the moment I did the injury with ice and immobilization (as best I can). The next step is to see a physio so I drive to Alphington Sports Medicine and lucky enough get a walk in appointment.
The physios prognosis is it is a Level 1 tear, not bad enough for crutches but an 8 week injury. I get a very gentle massage surrounding the injury and she tapes it up in an unusual way explaining it helps the healing process.
Im told to continue to ice at least four times a day for the next 72 hours.
My exercises are to ever so gently stretch and to lay on my stomach and raise my foot.
Now my total focus has shifted to the rehab exercises.
