British Open / Physio Update

Firstly I would like to personally wish Tom (Team Carlo), Rachel (Powerhouse), Carmen (MTC) and the rest of the Australian Team heading to the UK to compete in the British open a safe trip. Over the last 6 months I've had the pleasure of training with these guys on a regular basis at State training.
I've watched Tom develop for the past three years, though this last year he has stepped up to be an outstanding competitor and I believe he has amazing potential.
Its been great to be around these positive athletes and to have the opportunity to learn from the likes of Carmen who has so much experience.
I hope they all have a successful tournament and enjoy the experience of visiting another country, how I wish I was going!

When I had the ultrasound last week I was curious as to why the radiologist was scanning the complete hamstring from the point of attachment at the hip right down to below the knee.
Sitting down with the physio on Wednesday she explained her understanding of the radiologists report. The obvious was I had a tear in the lower part of the hamstring. A grade one was probably correct. It is a 6 to 8 week injury if everything goes well.
Not so bad but then she mentions tendonpathy and starts explaining I have an underlying issue with the tendon having micro tears in it and goes on to say that I've had this for some time. This would explain my sore hamstrings and the tightness I've felt over the past month and maybe why the injury was due to happen.
The shock hits me when she's says it's a 3 to 6 month rehab process to get it right! My jaw drops.
Now this wouldn't be the first time a Physio has given me news like this and painted the picture worse than what it is. Remembering that I'm getting a second opinion off Adam (Larkom) who I feel I can rely on giving me the best diagnosis and get me back with the least amount of time off.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
