My Rollercoaster

I dont know how many times I've ridden the roller coaster.
Lately it seems like Im constantly going up and down. It wasn't even two weeks ago when I was completely injury free and a great week at training. Tuesday night I felt tired and unmotivated, thinking that training might spark me up but it didn't. In fact my legs felt like concrete and I struggled to get out of first gear.
During the session I felt my hip ache, not knowing exactly why.
Afterwards I stayed and chatted and found I wasn't the only one who had a bad night.
For me and my body this is becoming a familiar trait leaving me often thinking why I'm doing this. Struggling with injuries, dealing with the aches and pains and feeling like I'm not progressing as an athlete.
In fact I was facing all this before the world championships. For once I voiced my thoughts to Carlo that I think it was time to give it away.
Imagine that! How my life would be different right now.
We know the outcome and Carlo tought all of us a very important lesson when I returned from Russia about 'persisting'.
Sometimes our success is only just around the corner. As an athlete in this sport so many things can hold you back from reaching ultimate success. The constant injuries, incorrect refereeing decisions not to mention politics and then you have to be good enough to beat your opponent.
I am lucky enough to know what can happen if you persist and for me despite feeling down at the moment my situation will improve again soon.
This is a valuable life lesson for all of us as life is full of ups and downs, it's important to remember that when your down that soon you'l be up again and focus on the good times as they will return.
