High Performance Training

At long last I've finally had another opportunity to train with my peers from MTC.
This year our H.P.T schedule has been reduced to monthly, something I personally dislike. For me I have gotten invaluable experience sparring with the seniors in my division and I would relish the opportunity to continue this fortnightly. I asked why this was and our coaches involved were of the opinion that there was a lack of interest by the athletes. For some this may be the case but then it also filters out those who are truly to committed to training and those that aren't so serious.
I believe the drop off in attendance occurred around and after nationals were I know I had a torn hamstring and as I recall Tom, Alana and Pete were also sidelined due to various injuries. That was everyone from Team Carlo unavailable, not attending the training sessions. I guess the one thing we could have done better would have been to inform the program organizers that we could not make it.
Speaking with Carlo, I asked if we could try to arrange a few more sessions with MTC and he thought it was a good idea. He also mentioned that it's the athletes that need to be driving these programs hence being motivated and organizing these events for our own benefit.
I enjoyed todays session as it gave me a chance to test out my hamstring and work on a few things. I went into the session with the intention of slowly building my intensity at a gradual rate. Therefore I took extra time and care while warming up because its so hard to tell if an injury has healed when you cant feel any pain or discomfort.
Attendance was a bit low with a number of regulars about to travel to the Belgium open, others out injured and I imagine some taking a break just after the Vics. Though now the year feels like its really started, first comp out of the way, training camps on the weekends and with the Gold Coast open about 6 weeks away there's no time to relax.
Exciting, so bring it on!
