Starting Fresh

Im finally back from a well over due and much needed break!
Recapping on the Nationals, I spent the Sunday enjoying some great fights from the junior black belts. This was an opportunity to relax and watch some of the Victorians I train with, the likes of Tom, Cem and Natasha. All three ended up winning their divisions, a sign that the state program in Victoria seems to be working well.
Around the lunch break the ADF put on their self defence demonstration. I watched it the day before and felt it was ordinary though on the Sunday it did improve. Most of the techniques black belts should be familiar with, such as disarming a weapon from an attacker with blocks, strikes and wrist locks. What interested me the most was their display of Jujitsu, an art that fascinates me after watching many hours of UFC.
Once the competition had ended, I was officially in holiday mode. After many long months of training and then having to do rehab exercises, I'd reached a point were I wanted to forget everything about Taekwondo and of course work for a week or two.
I headed up to Byron Bay and was delighted to be in a place were doing nothing was absolutely normal for half the population (as they are tourists). It felt amazing to be sleeping in everyday, laying on the beach and in the hammocks and not thinking about going to the gym or doing some sort of training.
And this is exactly what I needed because my injuries have healed and now I'm feeling really enthusiastic about starting training again. I can't wait to have a kick around at the club again tomorrow night!
