This weekend we have another competition and Im up beat and looking forward to it.
I believe having regular competitions like this is a massive benefit to all fighters as it gives us an opportunity to experience the pressure and stress that only a competition can give you. No matter how many times I train and spar at my club it never fully prepares you for the real deal and that experience is invaluable. I hope that Taekwondo Victoria / Team Victoria continue to offer plenty of club and state competitions like this.
I've had an opportunity to view my tape from the recent British open selections and since can see that there really wasn't much in this fight. My loss came in the last minute or so of the final round and I think now I've learnt something from this that I wont make the same mistake this weekend.
Since British selections Ive been working hard to deal with some bruising from my fight. Its been slow to settle so I've been really proactive in dealing with it. After every session I've been using ice and inflammatory creams and this week started on anti in-flam tablets from the chemist. This sort of injury is so common for me Im used to dealing with it and its healing as well as can be expected, so fingers crossed Im 100% by Sunday.
We learn't a new kick on the weekend (by that Im mean a variation in setting up this kick) and I think it will complement my fighting style. Now the trick is to practice it every day so it comes out naturally in my competition. Im really excited to give this a go because its a certain score and every point counts.
You will hear about the results of it next week, so wish me luck....
Cheers,
Steve
